Google’s definition of the discipline says that Yoga aims to ‘control and still the mind, recognising a detached witness-consciousness untouched by the mind and mundane suffering.’ I can safely say that students experience many ‘mundane sufferings’, including loneliness, exam and coursework stress, feelings of uncertainty, and homesickness. Let alone the plethora of mental health conditions that studies show many students deal with alongside everything else. In recent years, perhaps…

In the next instalment of her café adventures, Label writer Kayleigh John heads to a student favourite: Fifty-Three. This week, I ventured into the Fifty-Three café on Storer Road. I’ve been here several times before – mostly because it’s quite close to where I live in town – but I’ve only ever tried the savoury items off their menu. The café sells everything from brownies to blondies, slices of cookie pies to the biggest muffins I think I have ever seen.…

Freya Harrod explores why contemporary society is so averse to ageing – what has prompted this and why are cosmetic surgery procedures now seen as go-to ways of solving the problem? After a private Dolce & Gabanna after-party in Milan during February, images of Kim Kardashian in attendance posing with other influencers were posted, and followers were quick to compare how the star’s skin appeared in her images compared to others’. Label volunteer writer Laura Gray Núñez explores some of her favourite book-to-screen adaptations, challenging the view that films cannot compete with book originals. Some people, especially book-lovers, prefer books over movies and series, especially if it requires comparing the film or show adaptation of a book to the novel it was based on. However, many book-to-screen adaptations mentioned in this article are classics in the film world and some are even more well-known than the book itself. Some of the most impactful book-to-screen adaptations are thrillers like, for instance, The Shining. The book was written by Stephen King and the…
