Label brings you live updates from this year’s A-level results day, where hundreds of thousands of students across England, Wales and Northern Ireland will receive their results! Summary At 8:00 BST, A-level, AS-level and A-level equivalent technical qualifications are released. Results this year are based on predictions as students could not take their exams in the usual manner due to coronavirus. A strong emphasis has been made that the results are fair and consistent as well as being in line with results from previous years. Even though this year at Loughborough will be slightly different to previous years, you will still have an amazing time. Freshers is undoubtedly a very nerve-wracking experience, whether you are living on or off-campus, it can still be daunting for many. Santander have announced they have permanently closed their branch opposite the Students’ Union on the Loughborough University campus.
Loughborough Students’ Union is reopening it’s doors to the student population after more than 20 weeks since the start of the Coronavirus Pandemic. From the 5th August, LSU will be reopening the Union Shop between 10am and 2pm Monday-Friday. The new LSU Exec Team began their year long term this morning after a two-week long handover period with the previous team ended on Friday. New Union President for 2020-21, Matt Youngs, told Label that “there is no question that the forthcoming academic year will be challenging at times, but it also presents an opportunity for the Students’ Union to diversify the opportunities it offers.” The team were elected in March 2020 during another gruelling LSU Exec Elections campaign, which culminated in a fantastic results night, and take over from a team who according to the new President have been full of “support, insight…

LSU Rag have won ‘Best Student Fundraising Group of the Year’ at this year’s National Student Fundraising Association (NaSFA) Awards. As well as this incredible achievement, Rag were also shortlisted for the following awards: Small Budget, Big Impact Award Faraday Hall Committee of Loughborough University Faraday were nominated based on that fact that, “as a committee, 19 of them ran and participated in a 24 hour sponsored bike ride to raise a huge £864 for Rainbows Children’s Hospice”. LSU has announced that they will be transferring the ownership of the Campus Nursery to the University due to ‘financial’ reasons, following approval from the Board of Trustees. Until last week, LSU had provided 102 places in its Campus Nursery (situated just behind the SU) for children 0-5 years – aimed at the children of students, University staff and the local community. The Nursery had been operating as part of the Students’ Union for over 35 years, with full-time staff and volunteers from LSU Action.
