LSU Media have held an exclusive interview with the first flat in Loughborough to be put into lockdown following one of the flatmates testing positive for COVID-19. We spoke to Ollie, Tabbs, Elle and Fleur who have all been placed into lockdown by the University after their flatmate Chris tested positive for Coronavirus on Friday. Weekly Coronavirus cases have decreased for the first time in 4 weeks in Loughborough, with just 25 more individuals testing positive in Loughborough, down from 36 the week before. 25 positive cases were confirmed last week across Loughborough, of which none were located in the Loughborough University area which covers campus accommodation, William Morris Hall and the Old Ashby Road area. The major increases that were seen in Shelthorpe and Lemyngton last week initially prompted Charnwood Council to open a walk-in testing site in the town, but whilst both have a significant number of cases, they are much lower than their respective peaks.…

Moving away from home and starting university is an incredibly daunting time. However, it is even more daunting in the unprecedented time we are living in. University is incredibly nerve-wracking however, on campus there are numerous support services available for your mental health and wellbeing. At Loughborough University, we have a Mental Health service on campus meaning it is accessible to all. A student who posted a racist Snapchat story berating other ethnicities has been suspended from the university before the first semester has even started. The student, who shall not be named, posted a Snapchat story of him saying racist remarks about his flatmates. In the story he says he is “not being racist” however, he then proceeds to say that he was “stuck in the ethnicity flat… when there are loads of fittys [sic] in all the other flats”, claiming that “they all stink”.
