Loughborough Student’s Union Plays a Surprise Gig featuring Tinie Tempah

On the 8th October 2013, Loughborough students were treated to a surprise gig at the Student’s Union featuring none other than Tinie Tempah.

The Brit Award winner has been visiting various universities across the country over the past two weeks, performing similar style ‘secret’ gigs in an effort to promote his new album ‘Demonstration’ as well as his upcoming tour.

Hundreds of students involved in the Union’s many committees such as hall committees, Media, Action and Rag committees and many more were invited to the first ever “Thank You For Freshers” event, promising free doughnuts and a chocolate fountain.

Throughout the day rumours had been emerging about a possible act performing at the event, names including Coldplay and Peter Andre were bounced around. However by the evening, Tinie Tempah was passed around as the most likely possibility after tweets from his account hinted performing at a Freshers event; ‏”@TinieTempah20h: Back at it & Heading up north towards the M6.. More clues soon! #RAVINGWITHTHEFRESHERS

Once Room 1 was filled with speculative committee members and fresher helpers, the Union Executive came to the stage to confirm everyone’s thoughts, and invite Tinie Tempah to the stage. Tinie had the room buzzing from start to finish. His filled his short but very sweet set with his classics including “Pass Out” and “Written in the Stars”, as well as taking a photo to add to his very own instagram.

Overall a very impressive evening from both Tinie himself and the Union Executive for organising it.
