As Label Online reported earlier in the week, Loughborough’s recent 4-1 win against Godmanchester Rovers sealed their place in the FA cup first qualifying round, the furthest the club has got in the famous competition in recent history. This latest achievement marks another milestone in what has been a very successful start to the 2010/11 season for the students.

Loughborough have hit the ground running with an impressive six wins in their opening nine league games and currently sit 2nd in the Midland Football Alliance Division One. Their exciting start has already been recognised by winning the Moldwel Products Team of the Month for August and George Williams winning Player of the Month.

While Williams, one of new coach Stuart McLaren’s first signings, has been earning plaudits, Daniel Nti has also been making the headlines with seven goals this season already.

“It seems as if I have settled in well” Nti told Label. “I always had faith in my ability, but moving to a new club with such high prestige such as Loughborough isn’t easy. I wasn’t sure I would find my form.”

McLaren will be pleased Nti  and the rest of the Loughborough team are playing well with a big local game away at Oadby or Quorn in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup next on the agenda.

Nti is quick to praise McLaren’s influence:

“The new coach has been the key…his unique coaching and style of play has really suited us.”

Should Loughborough’s form continue, could the dream of a place in the first round of the FA Cup with possible ties including Sheffield United and Charlton become a reality? Nti believes so:

“With a lot of effort and heart, there’s no reason we can’t. If we are on our game we’ll be hard to beat. Personally I’d be happy with a Football League side – that will be a dream come true”.

Label Online will be following the club’s games throughout the season and Loughborough Campus Radio’s BUCS Live programme will be providing live and exclusive updates from all home fixtures during term time.
