Exec Elections Results Night: As It Happened

So Here is the list of all the candidates:

Jack Heskett: Welfare Development Officer

Sarah Musgrave: Rag Chair

David Cox: Action Chair

Igor Maslovs: Ethics & Environment

Jason Painter: SocFed President

Jayne Savage: VP Education

Adam Rae: AU President

Anie Davis: Head of Media

Lucy Padolsey: VP Finance and Commercial

Peter Childs: VP Democracy and Communications

AND Rebecca Bridger: Union President

Well done to everyone involved, in particularly all candidates.

Is there anyone who doesn't know Rebecca Bridger? She must have to leave an hour to get anywhere on campus with all the meeting and greeting that will occur on her journey…

The Big One. Taz looks terrified as Bridger's fans scream her rival onto the stage. 5,996 votes. 4,054 votes for Bridger. Wow. Wow. Wow. Your new Union President is Rebecca Bridger! Her name is chanted by the masses…

And now for the BIG one… the prestigious position of Union President. Hold your breath Loughborough……

Now for the penultimate position, VP Democracy and Communications. Pete 'Papa Smurf' Childs and Michael ‘Luff Man’ Munday have put up a strong fight throughout the election campaign.

Padolsey takes it. A great team hug and jump on display for the Room 1 crowd. Solid technique.

VP Finance & Commercial Services is next up, Lucy ‘Power’ Padolsey who has the motto ‘Your money your power’ is up against Ian ‘Shrek’ Jakings who is hoping to finally get those hair straighteners for you ladies!!

Either Jayde is hideously nervous or truly wrecked, her friends support her to stand. Either way it doesn't matter. She's won.

Jayde Savage VP Education candidate comes down to the Room 1 stage. ‘The Savage’ aims to ensure that every student gets full value for money in relation to their education with the looming increases in tuition fees.

Adam Rae receives the loudest cheer of the night. And quite rightly so! He's blown away the competition to become your new AU President. Quickly congratulated by Stu and Jasmine.

Now the race for the next AU President is almost up. Battling it out are Jasmine ‘Be the Best’ Scott, Adam ‘Rocky’ Rae and Stuart ‘Superman’ Searle.

Anie Davis is your new Head of Media! A few boos… Unsavoury.

Said to be one of the highly contested positions of this year’s elections, the two candidates battling for the Head of Media position. Anie ‘Potter’ Davis hoping to put some magic into the media centre and Chris ‘Android’ Lloyd wanting to transform the face of media!

The newly renamed Societies Federation President Candidates are next up to the stage, the first contested position of the night, including Jason Painter, ‘Bruce’ Lee Adams and Katie ‘Wonderland’ Russell. All which desperately want to be your SocFed President!

Come on Private Coxy. Hold your nerve. The crowd chant his name. Performs a victory human pyramid. Lovely.

Hoping to become the next Action Chair, David ‘Private Coxy’ Cox enters the stage. With a wealth of experience, Cox has put the most volunteering hours into action this year, he aims to provide free training courses for volunteers to learn new skills which will benefit them and the community.

Sarah looks terrified. But she doesn't need to be! Dances off to Katy Perry's Firework…

RAG Chair candidate Sarah ‘Rag Riding Hood’ Musgrave now takes to the stage, another un-opposed candidate. Sarah aims to increase recognition of both Rag and the volunteers.

That's it Igor. A nice jump up and down in celebration. But he knew he'd won a long time ago.

Next up we have the position of Ethical & Environmental Officer, the first of our un-opposed Candidates. Igors Maslovs is already a part of the E & E committee, and believes “students have the power to make a change..”.

No Candidate receives 646 votes, but Tintin destroys it. He looks mighty relieved!

Seeing as we have just over half an over to the results being announced, Ben Croucher's attire is worth a comment. He is presenting LSUTV's coverage live from JC's Bar and it has to be said, is looking very dashing.

One major change from last year is the Room 1 stage. Gone are the days when the candidates can't see each other, the booths have been axed, and if you end up losing your reaction will make the victors champagne taste even sweeter.

Room 1's 50-50 ratio lasted less than 20 minutes. The lads are out in force.

The three AU candidates are snuggled closely on a JC's sofa. It has to be said they've all put in cracking election campaigns. We were speaking to an election insider who said this one was too close to call.

Words from the DJ: 'This is going to be massive.' Unfortunately he was chatting about Snoop Dog's new song. It's repetitive garbage.

The Union is getting busier and we have officially one hour till the results are announced!

By the way, turns out you don't have to manually refresh the page. This is too easy.

The mood in JC's is anything but relaxed. Candidates pacing about, constantly wiping their clammy palms on their now not-so-clean trousers, and one report of a election hopeful practicing their victory dance. Bold.

If you're a lad in Loughborough and have always wanted to see a 50-50 ratio of lads to ladies, then pop down to Room 1. It's astonishing. I'll give it five minutes before word gets out and the rugby team rocks up to capitalise…

She's So Lovely booms out over the Room 1 sound system. 'I don't know, I don't know, I don't know…' Well, for most of the positions I think everyone knows who has claimed victory. But you never know…

Who will be your new executive and who will go home empty handed? The votes are counted, and all that remains is the small matter of revealing who you've elected as the 2011/12 Union Executive. There will be emotion, passion and crazy celebrations in a night that will make or break 19 candidates lives. And that's not an understatement.
