Loughborough Off-Spinner, Maurice Holmes, has today had his suspension from bowling lifted by the ECB. The MCCU Academy member and former Warwickshire bowler was banned in July, after his bowling action had twice been reported to the England and Wales Cricket Board the previous month.

Independent analysis into Holmes' dubious action has taken place, following his own request to take up a right to appeal the suspension.

Following a period of remedial work on his action and after initial analysis from June 2011 was invalidated on the basis that the Loughborough bowler was unable to replicate the action used in matches under laboratory conditions, the suspension has been lifted with immediate effect.

Holmes has however been warned against using his mystical 'doosra' delivery in competitive county cricket, which was found to be illegal.

A comprehensive study found that while his orthodox off-spinner was perfectly within the law, the delivery of the 'wrong-un' that made the ball move from leg to off was outside of the regulations.
