We went from big screen to TV this month with our competition based on people’s favourite TV shows. I am very pleased to announced that Chris Sharples won the competition with his illustration of Breaking Bad. Muscle and Athletic Sport Society (MASS) presents the Student Physique Championship Grand Finale at the University of London this Saturday 25th April. The event is being held between 11:30-4pm in the Student Central of the University. The Student Physique Championship is an annual event that seeks to find the UK’s best-built students. Synthpop is the genre, which vaguely speaking, initially formed in the 60s mainly in the UK and Japan but made a healthy existence in the 80s and 90s and has not stopped cropping up since, just like an ex who’s realised what they’ve lost, long after the break up. The introduction to the Foo Fighter’s eighth studio album ‘Sonic Highways’ is as haunting as it is beautiful, and it truly befits its name “Something From Nothing”. The opening lines of Grohl’s rugged voice are withdrawn and restrained, until the lead guitar kicks in, at which point the song picks up serious pace. The guitar trio sound of Pat, Dave and Chris is crunchy and earthy, yet you never feel as though either guitarist steps on another’s toes musically.
