Dear… is a new series of articles that Label will be posting. Throughout this series, people will share open letters addressed to anyone from boyfriends, friends, family to even pets. These open letters allow for us to explore the minds of others and their deepest thoughts. From personal journeys to self-discovery, this is a series that is worth looking out for and giving a read.

Volunteer writer, Amie Woodyatt, adds to the ‘Dear…’ series with a beautifully written and very lovely letter to her soul sister.

Dear soul sister,

Thank you.

Thank you for being the most beautiful human I know, for always being a light, and for staying strong through every storm. Thank you for always believing in me, even when it seemed like the rest of the world only wished for my demise. Thank you for keeping promises, for making me laugh, and for your unconditional love.

Thank you for helping me understand that I’m not what any ‘man’ has done to me; I hope my constant love helps you see that you’re also so much more than what anyone has done to you. I also hope you believe that in yourself, and that everyone I know believes that in themselves. Thank you for keeping me alive through the times where any self-belief that I once had was drained and I lay empty… You filled my heart and even now when I question myself, I think of you and try to be as strong as you are.

Thank you for the endless love from miles away, across seas and continents, mountains and deserts. It travels far but is all the stronger for making it here. Your support encourages me to try everything, to be bold, just like my younger self, and to try every day to love myself more. I love you back from my core and I always will, no matter what happens.

Thank you for being someone I can admire. You are beautiful outside and in and deserve only the world. I can’t understand some of the cards life has dealt you, but never once have you faltered in being an incredible young woman and I will forever respect you for that. No matter what life has thrown at you, you have remained kind and conscientious. You have always been yourself and every day you make me proud of what you achieve.

Men can lay hands on us, women can throw words at us, but I will always have your love and you will always have mine. I can’t write how brilliant you are, and maybe some things I say are tired and cliché, but I mean every word I say to you, no matter what people think: I am thankful for you, I am stronger with you, and I love you.

Thank you.
