Season 2 of Celebrity Traitors saw us return to the Scottish highland castle with a green cast of celebrities ready to hunt down traitors. Only two out of the 21 celebs wanted to remain faithful, Hannah Fry and James Acaster- however the big dog herself, Maya Jama had other ideas in mind… Come with me as I unpack everything to do with Celebrity Traitors season 2!

*SPOILERS AHEAD…*

This fame packed season saw two unexpected winners to take back £41,000 EACH to their respective charities.  Romesh Ranganathan and Sebastian Croft were faithful winners! They both donated their share of the prize pot to their chosen charities of  Refugee Council and Choose Love respectively. Their win was guaranteed when they snuffed OG traitor, Maya Jama out during the final round table with assistance from fellow traitor King Kenny, who shot himself in the foot by trying to end the game during the final banishment. The finale was also packed with high octane challenges and heartfelt moments! From Romesh Ranganathan, James Blunt, and King Kenny zooming around a loch in dune buggies to Maya Jama giving bond girl, on the side of a helicopter- the finale was definitely worth its extended run time! My personal favorite part of the episode was James Blunt letting the younger cast members give the helicopter a go, because he had been in one dozens of times. You’re so beautiful James Blunt 😉

The season saw traitors breaking their sacred oath, not once, but twice! This betrayal to Claudia’s team of traitors caused a stir in the castle, as the only faithful that wanted to be faithful were recruited to be traitors! James Acaster who was put in a life or death situation with Amol Rajan (who strangely was charging £999 for a traitors meet and greet) was chosen by Maya Jama and Richard E. Grant to be a fellow traitor. But after a strange reveal from Richard E. Grant, who admitted to being a traitor minutes after the round table, was down to two after the faithful successfully banished a traitor on their first go (without much thought…) Hannah Fry the genius doctor was then recruited, but in the grievous situation she was in, a few episodes later she was banished… The traitors were definitely playing a unique game this season!

Despite the highs of this season, there were many, many lows… people have complained that the game is becoming stale, especially after you realise that banishing traitors (the main aim of the game) is pointless as they can just recruit again! After five seasons of the same old formula people have suggested that new roles should be added to the game, taking inspiration from games similar to Traitors itself- like ‘Blood on the Clocktower’ and ‘Werewolf’ could provide Traitors with a new spark that it so desperately needs. Roles like the Seer in season 3 and the dagger that grants a player a double vote during a round table are a step in the right direction, but the games need a little more flare to restore it back to its glory!
