There are plenty of different events for you to join, and you most certainly don’t have to be a woman to attend! The week begins with a Women of Loughborough Festival in Room 1 at 7:30pm, set to celebrate women from all backgrounds. There will be performances from LSU Dance, Breakdance, Pole Fitness as well as appearances from inspirational speakers! This will be followed by a movie night on Tuesday at 7:30pm in Cogs! LWN will host Welfare and Diversity’s Tea and Talk this Wednesday in the W&D Office from 1pm-3pm, followed by a very exciting evening looking at Inspirational Women in Sport, with guest speakers; Commonwealth Games Bronze Medalist Giselle Ansley and GB Wheelchair Basketball captain Sophie Carrigill! Whether sport interests you or not, this is not an event to be missed and will be held in Cogs from 7:30pm onwards! Thursday will see the live screening of a documentary, followed by a question and answer session, starting at 7pm in Cogs. The week will all be nicely rounded off with celebratory drinks starting at 7pm in The Kelso on Friday 13th March.
Ella Gibbons, Women’s Officer for Loughborough Women’s Network, had this to say about the upcoming week of events:
We are very excited about our week ahead celebrating International Women’s Day! We have got a whole load of inspirational events planned and hope to see you there. On Saturday we began our celebrations with a trip to the WOW festival in London, which was incredible. We are hoping to continue this through the rest of the week!
