Michael Duckworth has stepped down from his position as Global Development Officer on the Union Executive. The announcement was made by Rebecca Bridger at Union Council.

Duckworth took on the role over the summer after the Global Development position was left vacant after the 2010/11 Executive Elections.

The Global Development Officer responsibilities will be taken on by Rebecca Bridger, who is already covering for the Post Grad Development Officer Tim Price who resigned back in December and Jayde Savage who also resigned from the 2011/12 executive after being offered a job.

Only Dave Tingle remains on the Executive team of those who were appointed by Union Council in the summer after the positions were left vacant at the Executive Elections.

Label believes that the issues with development officers this year is one of the main reasons behind the second Executive Elections being run this year, which is exclusively for development officers.

Bridger reported to Union Council that Duckworth's workload was the main reason for Duckworth's resignation, the same as Tim Price, leading to questions at council about the workload placed on Development Officers.

The Union President told Label:

"Michael Duckworth has chosen to step down from his position as Global Development Officer due to course commitments. He has offered to provide guidance whilst no longer in the position to ensure the executive, the global development committee and successor are adequately supported for any events both this academic year and next."
