Vice President for Democracy and Communications, Pete Childs, published his second candidates’ pack of the year today, outlining all the details for the upcoming executive elections.

The pack, which is subject to approval by Union Council on April 25, explains that nominations for the six positions on the 2012 Union Executive will open at 10.00 on April 26 less than 24 hours after approval.  Nominations will close at 16.00 on April 30.

The positions open for elections are: Global Development Officer, PostGrad Development Officer, Alumni Development Officer, Community Development Officer, Ethics & Environmental Development Officer and Chair of Council.

The Post Grad Development Officer (DO) vacancy has been free since December when Tim Price resigned, while the Community DO is a new position for 2012/13 whose job will include ensuring “equal opportunity is available for town students to get involved as student based in halls” and “increase awareness in town students of opportunities available”.

Campaigning will commence after the first candidates meeting which is scheduled to take place at 20.00 on Monday April 30 and will last six days. Voting will open on Friday May 4 at 00.00 and close at 17.00 on Saturday May 5 with results being announced at 18.00 the same day.

There is currently nothing in the candidates pack about the EHB, Union or Media Hustings which were a pivotal part of the Executive Elections back in February/March.

However, Childs informed Label that; "there is an LCR question time on the Wednesday May 3 for candidates. There are unfortunately not enough resources or  volunteers available for a big EHB or Union Hustings."
