Thursday  February 16 saw Loughborough Careers and Employability Centre host its first ever careers fair specifically aimed at students seeking a career in the sports industry.

The Careers and Employability centre has added this fourth fair to its portfolio for the first time to accompany the Autumn Graduate Recruitment and Placement Fair, the Spring Fair and the Springboard Fair.

Talksport 2012 hosted over 20 employers from the industry in the James France building, with careers in all kinds of disciplines from journalism to sports law catered for.

The fair saw representatives from Leicester Tigers, Hilton Hotels, Decathalon and Fifa to name a few, all willing to speak to students about graduate and work experience opportunities within their organisations.

The event was a roaring success, with over 500 students attending and 96% of student feedback rating the fair to be useful or very useful. The event organisers were very happy with the event, with one organiser, Gill Clarke saying:

“I have thoroughly enjoyed organising it and have gained a great deal to build on as we continue to support students investigating a career in sport.”

The final two fair held by the careers centre this year, the Spring Graduate Recruitment and Placement fair and the Springboard Careers Fail will be held on Tuesday March 6 in the David Wallace Sports Hall and May 2 respectively.

The Spring Graduate Recruitment and Placement fair which will see over 55 employers attending whereas the Springboard Careers Fair is for those who are looking for employment in alternative sectors which are not necessarily covered by the other fairs such as media, law, education and environmental work.
