In a fiercely competitive sing off, it was Cayley who eventually came out triumphant. They claimed the sing off 2011 title ahead of Bill Mo and Bakewell who were second and third respectively.

In a tightly contested final which also featured Faraday, Elvyn and Rigg Rut, the judges, made up of the Union Exec voted in favour of Cayley. Each member of the executive had one vote and chose their favourite hall based on the following criteria; loudness, lyrics, choreography and leader's performance.

In heat one, it was Faraday and Bakewell who progressed, although DC may believe they were unfortunate not to get further after an impressive performance which included parodies of Winter Wonderland and Bonkers.

Cayley breezed through to the second of three heats against Butler Court, The Holt, Elvyn and Rutherford. Second place in this heat was very tight but eventually, Elvyn became the fourth hall through to the final.

Possibly the first and biggest shock of the night came in the third and final heat where last year's winners Towers went out. Rigg Rut and Bill Mo progressed as Towers, Telford and Falk Egg went out.

The competition was then marred by Falk Egg, who refused to leave Room One after being knocked out. The entire hall sat on the floor and began chanting "We Shall Not Be Moved". After a difficult few minutes for security, where some Falk Egg Committee members were removed from the building, the hall eventually began to move out to allow the final to commence.

The incident had no effect on Cayley, who continued their impressive form into the final and were deserved winners.

After the event, Label caught up with Union President, Rebecca Bridger to find out what she made of the whole experience: "Everyone at the sing off was absolutely incredible, with new songs and amazing dance moves for all.

"Each year raises the bar and this year didn't fail to impress. It was very hard to choose, but Cayley came through tops in the end."
