The last couple weeks in the bubble have been absolutely manic, with candidates running from door to door, going on a string of nights out that has put freshers to shame, and spamming our Facebook feeds to no end about how they truly are the best person for the role, regardless if they’ve got into altercations on nights out or faced heat from certain critics against the idea of running two years in a row. Irrespective of all these debates surrounding the elections, about candidates dropping out last minute or facing campaigning bans on all forms of social media, the…

There’s a lot of recent debate surrounding the effect of the elections campaign and whether it provides a credible platform for the best candidates to show what they’re made of. There is no doubt that the best way to gather votes is to run a successful campaign that reaches not only the students on campus, but the ones living off campus as well. If a candidate grabs the attention of students in the right way, it can be a huge advantage in terms of gathering votes and ultimately becoming a part of the Exec team next year. A lot of…

As a former Epinal Comment Editor and current Label News Editor, I’m compelled to respond to Mark Osmond and am challenging his R.O.N campaign. Do I have a problem with Mark? Not in the slightest! However, if a second year is willing to apply for such a role, should they just not wait an extra year, gain more experience within the Students’ Union, and then put themselves forward for a role? If a…

Label had a chance to interview Ed Reckless, who is campaigning in the hopes of becoming the next Union President. Why are you running for this position? I am running for this position because for me it is a fantastic opportunity to work in the students union and to give back to the university that I have taken so much from. I have been a student here for four years, which is quite a long time, and in those years I have got involved in all sections, such as Hall committees, Action, Welfare, Rag and have loved every minute of…

Label interviewed Union President hopeful, Adam Sellers, in order to find out why he is going for this role, what makes him suited and why we should vote for him to be our next Union President. Why are you running for this position? I have been a hall chair and have found that it is something I have enjoyed and feel it is worthwhile. I have enjoyed representing the students at Falk Egg and feel like I would be up for representing the rest of Loughborough. I enjoy it so much and just want to see Loughborough keep getting better…
