1. Bombshell Look

This look became increasingly popular in the 1940s and emphasized the strong eyebrows and red seduction oozing lips. It is renowned as an iconic look for Hollywood siren Marilyn Monroe whose blonde locks and red pout combo established her as the ultimate glamour girl.
- To create this look you need to start with the perfectly prepared skin. After you moisturize your face, use concealer to hide the dark circles and illuminate the eye area. When picking the foundation, go for the lightest tone suitable for your complexion. However, don’t go too light if you don’t want to end up looking like a Halloween version of Marilyn!
- Once you applied your foundation, form and elongate your eyebrows using an eyebrow pencil.
- Marilyn always wore very subtle eye makeup, so start with applying a white eye shadow all over the eyelid. For deepening the eyes, use a light brown eye shadow draw a line through the socket line and then carefully blend. One of the tricks used by Marilyn’s makeup artist was to line inside the eye with the white kohl pencil to make them larger and more open. Finish your eye makeup with the liquid eyeliner, mascara and if you want an evening effect, a pair of false eyelashes.

2. Swinging Sixties

Icon – Twiggy
The trends of makeup in the 60s are inseparable from the British model and the symbol of the era Twiggy. Her iconic look with the larger than life eyes copied by thousands of women in the sixties is still being widely used to recreate the swinging sixties vibe.
- Start with light coverage foundation and concealer then move to the eye makeup.
- Apply light matte eye shadow all over the eyelid, and for the inner lid use a different color. Twiggy used a variety of colors from the subtle shades to the colorful ones so don’t be afraid to experiment. To get a line on the top lash line you can use liquid eyeliner but as it is pretty complicated and requires good practices the thicker line with darker eyeshades can be drawn. Draw the thick line inside of your bottom eyelashes using a white pencil to make your eyes look larger. Then put a layer of lengthening mascara and apply false lashes. To create the maximum effect you can paint the bottom eyelashes aka ‘Twiggies’ with liquid eyeliner painting small separate lines.
- The blush wasn’t that popular in the 60s so if you seek original look apply a small amount of powder blush.

3. Retro Chic

In the 60’s eye makeup had a revival. Dark eyes and nude lips combo became a must look among women. It was made popular by Italian actress Sophia Loren who because of her seductive dark eyes was sometimes called ‘a pair of eyes’.
- To create the look, prepare the face using concealer and a warmer tone foundation.
- Sofia’s retro-chic style is focused on bringing out the eyes so start from shaping the eyebrow form with the dark brown eye shadow using a pencil brush. Then, cover the eyelid with light brown eye shadow. For the inner eyelid use a medium brown tone and blend the colours. Run through the socket line with the dark brown eye shadow to get the deep eyes effect and blend it again. To create the illusion of the feline eyes use the eyeliner or black kohl pencil to frame the eyes and get that smoldering look.
- Shape your face with medium/dark bronzer, sweeping it beneath the cheekbones to create the illusion of the more sculpted face. Using a brush, brush the coral blush onto the apples of the cheeks and up and out along your cheekbone.
