HeadsUp! have hosted various events throughout the week, including #GoodDayBadDayTea and Talk, and promoting positive mental health and a quiz at Loughborough College. The carnival completes the busy week, but isn’t the end of mental health awareness! Next Wednesday, you can also join HeadsUp! at a talk with alumni Marc Burrows who joins us to discuss his mental health experiences.

The carnival will host various stalls and activities on the Union Lawn between 11am and 3pm tomorrow by all sections of Welfare and Diversity! The Carnival is set to be a great event and something not to be missed. With fun games, international food, a BBQ and even live performances, the Welfare committee are hoping for warmth and sunshine to set the day off perfectly!

The LGBT Association will run a Pride March at 12:30 from the library to the union, teamed with colourful flags, popcorn and sweets. Loughborough Women’s Network are hosting an outside Zumba session from 2-3pm and Luffbra Hindu Soc with host the incredible Holi Festival from 3:30- 7pm to celebrate the festival of colour! These are simply a few of the main events. Loughborough HeadsUp! are running an OCD Obstacle Course and a Coconut Shy throughout the day, helping you to understand more about mental health issues. All stalls will host a display of their achievements throughout the year, so make sure you take a look around to see that too! If you simply want a little time to chill, you can sit in the “chill out zone” and take in what’s going on around you.

The whole event has been organised by Mental Health Coordinator, Steph Noble. Label caught up with her to find out how she is feeling about the event:

It’s been a fantastic year for Welfare and Diversity, and I am so excited to be holding the first ever Liberation Carnival to celebrate everything we have achieved and the wonderful diversity of Loughborough! It’s going to be a great day, with lots going on. We can’t wait!

Don’t forget to pop along 11-3 on the Union Lawn tomorrow! See you there!
