On December 11th 2012 the Students' Union was host to the Societies Showcase 2012. Piazza was filled with a range of stalls for students and visitors to interact with, including Cocktail society that served up free festive cocktails throughout the evening. Snooker and Pool Society even set up a competition which allowed one lucky student the chance to win free entry to Stupid Tuesday for the whole of next term!- Congratulations Ryan Maffey !
The Iranian society could be found past the 20ft inflatable Snow globe, holding an interactive stall that consisted of tapestry, maps and the chance to sample an Iranian desert. Finally, Hindu society set up a free henna tattooing stall which went down a treat!
The performances opened with DJ Society mixing together a variety of songs before the rest of the acts were introduced. The audience were left amazed, inspired and excited by the range of performances the evening held, including Pole Dance, Belly Dance, Gospel Choir and Salsa to name just a few. The finale was performed by Fever who captured the audience with their talent, whip master and fire throwing performance!!!
After the event had come to a close, the celebrations carried on into the night, with all attendees receiving free entry to Stupid Tuesday.
The Vice Chancellor, Robert Alison attended the Societies Showcase stating that the performances were ‘excellent with outstanding talent!', wherein he continued by expressing interest to come and see the next showcase in 2013.
