After a disappointing Olympics, narrowly missing out on a medal, Fran Halsall is set to end 2012 on a high after claiming two Silver medals at the World Short Course Championship.

Loughborough-based Fran has picked up GB’s sixth medal in the 50m sprint in the competition in Istanbul over the five days of competition. With a few years of set back due to ankle surgery and the disappointment of losing out on a London 2012 medal, Fran’s Silver in Istanbul looks to be the start of her comeback. Halsall’s time of 23.87 saw her touch the wall second to Aliaksandra Herasimenia of Belarus.

Great Britain has faced a turbulent couple of months with the post Olympic lull. After failing to reach their target of five to seven medals, set by UK Sport, head coach Dennis Purely resigned and a full time predecessor is still yet to be named.
