Jame Vincent McMorrow – We Don't Eat
You may have heard his more well-known track ‘Higher Love’, used in last year’s Love Film advert, and may well have confused him with Bon Iver, as I did. If you’re a fan of the Bon Iver style, imagine that style mixed with Sufjan Stevens and Ray LaMontagne and you get James Vincent McMorrow.
James released his first studio album “Early in the Morning” in February 2010. I can’t help but feel he deserves much more recognition than he currently gets, and the song of the week this week, “We Don’t Eat” will demonstrate why. The track’s heartfelt lyrics demonstrate the depth of his skills as a songwriter and the progressive instrumentals exhibit the depths of his skills as a musician. The gentle rhythm guitar blends perfectly with the vocal harmonies. All in all it is a track definitely worth a listen, and definitely work song of the week!
