JLS have been confirmed as the headline act for this year's Freshers Ball on October 6th with a DJ set to finish the evening, supported by The Loveable Rogues, Vernon Kay, Lucky the Contortionist and more!
The news was broken during the Live Freshers Reveal by various members of the Student Executive, spread throughout the live broadcast on LSUTV, who made us wait until 6.30pm for the start of the revelation of this year's acts! Rumours ran wild around the Twitter mill, including suggestions of Swedish House Mafia amongst other making an appearence in Loughborough this October!
For the first time at Loughborough University, the draw for the 2012 SIng-Off was undertaken live on LSUTV! The champions from 2009 and 2010 respectively, William Morris and Towers, contest a stacked first heat against hall of the year Faraday, Robert Bakewell and Royce! Cayley, last year's winners, face Rutherford in heat two, and Telford and Harry French, the hall providing two of this year's Executive team, start in heat three!
After the Platinum and Platinum Extra release provided us with the news of the return of X-Rated Hypnotist Tony Lee and an East End Cabaret act, Radio 1's Danny Howard, the infamous club percussionist Michael Fish (not the BBC weatherman) and 90's band Livin Joy will perform during Freshers Week.
Finally, as tension mounted, it was time to reveal the acts for the Freshers Ball 2012! Alongside a silent disco, Radio 1 DJs Vernon Kay and Huw Stephens with perform with the likes of The Loveable Rogues and Lucky the Contortionist, both from Britain's Got Talent, before JLS hit Room 1 to finish the night off in style with their very own DJ set!
Co-host VP Democracy & Communications Ali Cole has said: "We have been working incredibly hard to make sure this Freshers Week will be the best ever! All the acts are going to be epic, I am especially looking forward to the mad Ukulele skills of the Loveable Rogues and of course our headline act, JLS! The reveal was a true testament to the amazing stuff that Loughborough Students Union has to offer our students and all of us here can't wait to welcome all the students back in just a few weeks."
