The Times Higher Education (THE) Student Experience Survey revealed that Loughborough University is ranked second amongst all the Universities in the UK.
With a total score of 84.7 Loughborough University is only 0.3 points away from the University of Dundee which is this year’s winner of the Best Student Experience. In third place is the University of Sheffield with a score of 84.5.
Previously, Loughborough University was voted the UK’s Best Student Experience for five years running.
The survey which is published in the Times Higher Education magazine gives students the opportunity to voice their opinions about what they think is most important to their life at university.
The table outlines the individual rankings of the 21 categories which amongst others include high-quality staff/lectures, good accommodation and good extra curricular activities/societies. The survey is a good indication of what a university is doing right and can at the same time act as a means of change by identifying aspects of university life which can be improved.
Students rated their university’s performance used a seven-point scale, with Loughborough scoring 6.4 out of 7 for its students’ social life and 6.5 for the extra curricular activities and societies which are provided.
The biggest achievement was scoring 6.8 for the sports facilities around campus.
Tuition in small groups (5.0) and Fair Workload (5.3) were the lowest scoring categories, both of which are part of the group which receives the smallest weighting.
Loughborough Student's Union President, Rebecca Bridger told Label:
"It is fantastic that the unique student experience on offer at the university has been acknowledged. I am incredibly proud of everyone who plays a part in the student journey at Loughborough."
