Maurice Holmes, Loughborough MCCU and Warwickshire off spinner, has been suspended from bowling in county cricket by the ECB. This comes after his bowling action was twice reported to the England and Wales Cricket Board back in June.
With no previous evidence of his action, Holmes was subject to an independent analysis process with took place on June 24, as set out by the ECB regulations for the Review of Bowlers Reported with Suspected Illegal Action. The report from the analysis was presented to the ECB on July 6.
The ECB has reported, that Holmes’ bowling action during the test was sufficiently different to his action in the matches in which he was reported, analysis proved inconclusive due to Holmes bowling too slowly in the tests.
Due to these results, Holmes has been suspended from bowling in county cricket with immediate effect in accordance with the ECB regulations. Holmes suspension will be lifted after a second independent analysis if his action is seen to be sufficiently corrected.
