Vice President Finance and Commercial Services candidate Ian Jakings believes the contest for the position is a tough one to call.
Jakings, who is campaigning as Shrek, has been seen on many nights out handing free teas and coffees to students outside the Union queues.
The Union staff member said: “there is no bitterness between me and Lucy (Padolsey, Jakings opponent). It will be a close competition between me and Lucy.”
However, when asked about the other competitors, he was sheepish not to be caught out from giving any predictions.
He said: “I think everyone is nervous about results. That’s all I’m going to tell you.”
Jakings, a finalist studying Computer Science, said win or lose he would be staying in Loughborough after he graduates due to his love of the place.
He said: “I have a huge workload this year but I am free next year.
“I will continue to live in Loughborough after graduation and think I will do an amazing job if elected.”
Jakings was keen to express his love for Loughborough and the students, "I definitely love Loughborough. When I first visited Loughborough, we clicked straight away."
