Label Sport has been canvassing across campus for the person who should be crowned Loughborough’s Sports Personality of the Year, and here is a shortlist of the nominations:
Rick ‘stretch’ Armstrong
A stalwart in the Cayley rugby team, having contributed his skills for an epic four years. During that time he has stood out because of his enthusiasm, dedication and talent on the field. He will be leaving the side this year and will be sorely missed.
Credited as the most consistent and talented performer in the U19 Men’s Football. Despite his success, Jack doesn’t seek the limelight. As a Fresher, he has been selected to represent the club at Lilleshall and against the IMS Allstars. Considered a guy with raw talent and a bright future ahead; does he get your vote?
Kieran is described as a superb role model, having been a member of LSAC for 6 years, serving four of those on committee. Alongside his great performance record, his work behind the scenes has helped the athletics club secure a Puma kit deal. He also claims the naked 400m record with a time of 51.1 seconds… Worthy of a vote?
Sarah Jane O’Sullivan
Well, what an all rounder! To quote those nominating her, Sarah Jane is a hero. She holds a strong reputation within the 1st Netball team with an invaluable contribution and word on the street is that she sure knows how to party!
A man of consistency when it comes to tennis. With two BUCS gold’s to his name, perhaps it is the tennis nomination that will earn your vote. Ben will join the marines this year after five years in Loughborough but is credited as a top lad, with exceptional personality. Is he Loughborough’s Sports Personality?
Requires little introduction as a swimming World Record Holder, World Champion, Double Commonwealth Champion, European Medallist and British Champion (& record holder). In BUCS, Liam has been unbeaten for 8 years. It goes without saying this guy has one hell of a lot of talent and is a true credit to Loughborough Sport.
