Loughborough’s Athletic Union has announced today that this will be the last academic year that it is participating in BUCS. According to BUCS’ website, ‘British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) is the national body for Higher Education (HE) sport in the UK’ and is the biggest competition at this level in the whole of the country. Following their emphatic win over Exeter University, Loughborough made the trip to the hallowed turf to take on Leeds Beckett in the final round of the Championship. After a heart-breaking trip to Twickenham with the BUCS 1 team, Loughborough travelled to Hartpury to lighten up the African violet spirits with a win. But even after a strong performance where Loughborough bodies were put firmly on the line, a late Hartpury try stole that chance of a National League One win.
