Loughborough Students’ Hockey Club have won the Maxifuel Super Sixes Men’s Division One indoor hockey league after overhauling St Albans to top the table.
The game against St Albans saw an incredible performance from both sides in a 12 goal thriller. Loughborough’s Chris Griffiths opened the scoring in the first minute with Samuel Ward added a second after three minutes.
Loughborough took a 4-2 lead to the break and the game carried on into the second period with Griffiths and Ward going on to score hat-tricks.
Continuing their efforts in the second half, the scoreline doubled to see an 8 – 4 finish and put Loughborough in pole position.
Great performances by the team during the tournament means that Loughborough are promoted back into the Premier league for next season, along with Doncaster who finished in second place.
