Today marked the final day of move-ins but excitement levels have not dropped across campus. We went out to see this first hand and took our feet on one last achy tour of campus before the real fun begins! First today was Rutherford, and we literally ran into newbie, Aiden.
What are you going to do first once you’re settled in?
Probably message the Rutherford group chat to make plans.
What’s for dinner tonight then?
Probably an omelette, that’s about all I can cook.
How nervous are you?
I’m more excited than nervous to be honest!
Good way to be! What’s the weirdest thing you’ve packed?
Face masks.
Well your skin is flawless, we need some too! So when drinking, what’s your go-to?
Double vodka and red bull.
Ooh, very hardcore! And finally, how do you get over a big night on the bevvies?
Just a good breakfast.
Fair! Next we moved on to Telford, where we met the lovely Rebecca!
What are you most nervous about?
Probably not finding enough time to balance everything!
Weirdest thing you’ve packed?
My ice cube tray shaped like sharks!
I so wanted one of those!!! What’s your go-to beverage?
Definitely a Malibu and Coke.
Me too! So, what are you most looking forward to?
Independence!
And what will you miss the most and least?
Mum’s cooking… to both questions!!!
Finally, have you got a hangover cure for us because we could really do with one?!
Well, I don’t really get hangovers but that’s definitely going to change!
We’ll leave you with that thought, Rebecca. Next we travelled over to Robert Bakewell where we caught Mitchell just as his parents were waving goodbye! There wasn’t a dry eye in the house… well, apart from Mitchell’s, he didn’t seem all that bothered!
So Mitchell, you don’t seem too nervous?
No not really, although I’m a bit apprehensive about starting my Geography and Management course!
You’ll do great. What’s your best dish?
I do a good curry!
What’s the weirdest thing you packed?
The emoji poo pillow. Does everyone have one of them?
Uhh, no, I don’t think so… What’s your go-to beverage then?
Captain Morgan’s, in any form!
What will you miss most?
Probably my other group of friends.
And least?
Is it bad to say my girlfriend? Only joking!
We hope you are Mitchell, or that she doesn’t read this! Next we headed right over to The Holt, where we caught up with Keira who was in fact a 2nd year transfer student!
So, as you’ve done Freshers’ before is there anything you’re nervous about?
Just meeting friends on my course really.
What’s the best thing you can cook?
Chilli! But I really love baking too!
Cake, mmmmm! What’s your go-to beverage?
Ooh this white peach and mango wine, it’s absolutely delicious! Tastes like juice!
We are definitely trying that on Saturday! And what are you going to miss most?
My cat, sorry mum, but it’s definitely my cat.
And least?
My brother, he’s not very nice and he smells bad!
Oh dear! Finally, hangover cure?
Some very strong painkillers and sleep!
And with that we aimed for our final hall of the week, Falk Egg. Familiar ground for both of us, we were keen to make this interview a good one, and Ritu didn’t let us down!
Hiya Ritu! What are you planning to get up to first, now you’re all moved in?
A big food shop!
Very wise! And what’s your best dish?
I make the best nachos with fresh guacamole and everything!
What’s the weirdest thing you’ve packed?
Hmm, it’s probably my collection of rocks!
And your go-to beverage?
Vodka, definitely vodka.
Our kind of girl! And what are you most looking forward to?
Just the whole experience really, I can’t wait to get started!
What will you miss most and least about home?
I’ll certainly miss my mum’s cooking but won’t miss helping out and unloading the dishwasher, I hate that job!
Thanks Ritu, have an amazing Freshers’! Best of luck to everyone we’ve met this week. Remember you can catch more Freshers’ coverage at media.lsu.co.uk.
