Tuesday 22nd September saw the arrival of freshers to five halls here in Loughborough. Label went along to see what the atmosphere was like and to meet a few new students from each hall!
Towers was fairly lively for 11am, fresher helpers and committee were on hand to help new students move in and many of the parents there were particularly friendly. We had a chat with Jack:
What is the most important that youâve packed to move away from home?

âWithout a doubt, my speaker!â
Judging by Jackâs face, he clearly could not be without it!
And what are you studying?
âElectrical Engineering- quite a distance from TowersâŚâ
Which night, or part of Freshers are you most looking forward to?
âBanana night!â -Jack was very prepared for this event, leaving his mum looking rather confused at the fact thereâd been a costume at home last week!
And- in one word, can you describe how youâre feeling?
Excited!

Royce had DJ J-Silks providing entertainment for new students, parents and returners alike! The atmosphere was all very friendly and lively, despite the rain. We met with new student, Niamh:
What is the most important that youâve packed to move away from home?
“Probably my laptop.”
And what are you studying?Â
âIm going to be doing Sport and Exercise Science.”
Great! So, what’s your favourite sport?
“Hockey!”
Which night, or part of Freshers are you most looking forward to?
âZoo Project night as part of Royce Freshers.”
And- in one word, can you describe how youâre feeling?
“Excited!”
We also talked about Lorraine Bowen performing on night one of freshers, we’d like to add that Niamh’s mum thinks she is a “legend”- look out for that interview very soon!
Elvyn fresher helpers were dancing, taking photos and of course helping out their freshers. We caught up with Jonathan, who’s going to be studying Electronics and Computing.

âMy computerâ -a good answer, considering his course!
Which night, or part of Freshers are you most looking forward to?
“Meeting some new people throughout freshers.”
And- in one word, can you describe how youâre feeling?
“Apprehensive” – Jonathan’s Dad added that’s how he’s feeling too, but his parents are also excited for their son.
In Bill Mo, we met up with Henry, in their lively, atmospheric quad!

âLaptopâ

âSystems Engineeringâ -someone else with a walk ahead of them!
Which night, or part of Freshers are you most looking forward to?
“I’m excited to join a sports team and get back into some sport, I may try out Lacrosse, I haven’t played before, but it’s nice to try something new!”
And- in one word, can you describe how youâre feeling?
“Optimistic!” -Great to hear!
Finally, we visited DC where we met Libi, there seemed to be less people around, but some freshers were still arriving a bit later in the day.

“I don’t really know- all of it, nothing in particular”
Do you play a sport?
“Yeah, netball”.

“A bit stressed!”
