They are a reality television trio who are taking the world by storm – from their TV trials and tribulations and high-profile relationships, to their infamous curves and famous derrières, the Kardashians are unstoppable!
Now the Los-Angeles based sisters have announced their fashion label in the UK; aptly named ‘Kardashian Kollection’ their clothing range was launched on November 8th in none other than high street store Dorothy Perkins.
The range is vast and comprises of over 100 pieces, with more to be launched in the near future. Designed for all ages and tastes, the sisters have said that the collection is designed for all shapes and sizes.
So, what would you expect to see from a collection designed by the fashionista sisters? Leopard print, tick. Body-con, tick. Kardashian glamour, tick. The collection emulates the fashionable sister's reputable style at an affordable price. Currently sold in US department store Sears, it offers a mix of Kim’s glamorous red carpet looks, Kourtney’s bohemian chic and Khloe’s edgier style.
The Kardashians love a body-con dress and there are plenty to choose from in this collection in plain and colourful styles with elements of metallics and lace, perfect for the Christmas party season.
Keeping in line with Kim’s new found love for monochrome, the collection features a selection of jackets and blazers, including a cropped white fur jacket which is in tune with this winters love of textures. Perfect thrown over a party dress or worn with a pair of boot cut flare and platform shoes for a distinct 90’s look in the style of youngest sister Khloe.
Feeling somewhat uncharacteristic of the Kardashian look and in a rare concession to casual dressing, the collection includes a variety of casual pieces, the Kardashian cream satin top, black eyelet cami top, and the smoke print dip top for example, all ofwhich would be suitable for even the most discerning fashion lover.
The line also features a collection of handbags and accessories. With their bag motto being ‘The showier the better’, you can take your pick from a pleather-fringed number a gold lamé clutch or studded bucket bag, there’s something suitable for evening attire to day time and office staples.
There have been mixed reactions as to why Dorothy Perkins was the chosen store for the collection and not somewhere like River Island or New Look where there seems to be more of an obvious target audience. The Dorothy Perkins brand has been a feature of our high streets since 1919, and has previously been associated with more demure office and casual wear. The store has recently undergone an image re-vamp in the hope of attracting a younger, more glamorous crowd, and company thought that they best way to do that was with the Kardashian sisters. A spokesman for Dorothy Perkins has said ‘'Knowing how popular they are and the huge interest they attract, it enables our customer to buy into their lifestyle and emulate their look at a great price.’
Sir Phillip Green, the Arcadia boss who owns big high street stores Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins and BHS said about the kollection, ‘Having reviewed the product, I felt that there was an excellent fit for Dorothy Perkins. I believe our customers will love the fashion looks, they passionately follow celebrity lifestyle, and the Kardashian sisters rank top when it comes to whom they relate to in the fashion stakes.’
Writing on their website, Kim said: 'Hi dolls!! My sisters and I are so thrilled to announce that we are launching our Kardashian Kollection at Dorothy Perkins stores in the UK!! This is such an exciting time and we can’t wait to head over to the UK later this year to launch the Kollection and visit all of our amazing fans. Speaking to Grazia, the sisters said: 'We’re looking forward to expanding our line and making Kardashian Kollection available to so many more people. We pride ourselves in having a line that is affordable and yet of great quality and we’re excited to bring it to new territories.'
In a quest for world domination, the Kardashian Kollection will also be available in thirteen other countries, including Turkey, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. In the UK, the collection will be available in 250 Dorothy Perkins shops nationwide and eight BHS pop-up stores.
