Loughborough University Women’s Hockey 1s stormed to victory in a dominant 5-0 victory over the University of Manchester’s Women’s 1s in a top of the table clash in the BUCS Women’s Hockey Premier Division fixture.

Loughborough got off the mark quickly with Malcolm scoring the opener in less than three minutes. After a dominant spell retaining possession and forcing Manchester to remain in their own half, Tait added a second just before half time.

Manchester started the second half brightly, creating chances which they did not get in the first half. However, their bright spell was soon quashed by the first of Barnett’s goals, which ultimately dampened Manchester’s spirits.

From that goal onwards it was all Loughborough, with the captain Ansley adding a fourth from a short corner and Barnett adding a second to her tally just before the final whistle.

This result means that Loughborough Women’s 1st remain on top of the BUCS Premier North division with seven points. The Loughborough team’s next fixture will be away to the University of Birmingham 1s.
