Planning for the annual Graduation Ball has commenced, with Lucy Padolsey launching a quest to engage more of the student community in the Union's commercial services.

Vice President for Finance, Padolsey, has distributed a survey requesting views on the date and theme of one of Loughborough's biggest nights of the year. With the Olympics disrupting usual graduation ceremony patterns, the University has moved them to September, which in turn has affected the Union's celebration arrangements.

An online survey has been made available for students to make their preferences. The two dates that have been proposed are June 29 and September 14.

In addition, the two options for the night's theme are Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Padolsey told Label: "The Graduation Ball is one of the most anticipated nights for every Loughborough student.

"This year due to the Olympics resulting in a change to graduation ceremonies we are asking the members of the Students' Union for their opinion and input into one of the most memorable nights, ensuring that it has the same impact and success that it does have year in and year out."

Last year's theme was Narnia and featured, amongst others, Olly Murs, Nero and Tim Westwood.

All responses to the survey must be made by February 3, at 5pm. More information on the graduation dates can be found here.
