On Wednesday the Loughborough girls made their way to Leeds to play in their final group stage fixture of the season.
Having already placed themselves in an exceptionally strong position with five out of five BUCS victories the girls were looking to make sure their momentum could be carried forward in the later stages of the competition.
Playing against the “old enemy” Leeds Met the Loughborough girls executed another commanding victory.
Loughborough took to the field first whereby Helen Shipman and Sarah Sundaram shared the bulk of the bowling.
The attack was further bolstered by the return of Nicky Pymm who had missed the last two games through illness. Somewhat aided by the addition of 51 extras Leeds made their way to a competitive 263-6 from their 50 overs.
However with Tammy Beaumont currently in sensational form the Leeds target was never going to be an issue. Fellow opener Sarah Sundaram fell for just five, however this brought Helen Shipman to the crease who remained alongside Beaumont till the end.
Beaumont reached another impressive score of 122 n.o. whilst Shipman was unlucky not to reach the milestone herself as she ended on 93 n.o. with the run chase only lasting 39 overs.
Beaumont has been an incredible force during the BUCS fixtures so far scoring an incredible 657 runs in five games without a single dismissal.
The academy side will now rest until the semi-final against Brighton takes place on 8 June.
With some key players currently with injuries, notably Lauren Winfield who has scored two centuries in her BUCS campaign this season and Danielle Peart who so far has been unable to bowl, it is hoped that there will be enough time for these girls to fully recover in order to be part of the semi-final.
