Efficient play from the Scandinavians, with two swift first half goals from Leo Cornic (32) and Oscar Aga (38) means Slovenia, who had no shots on target during a luckless afternoon, are now out of the tournament. A reckless challenge and a later blatant dive from captain Tamar Svetlin resulted in two yellow cards, leaving Slovenia with only 10 men after 20 minutes which did not help their cause, although their lack of attacking intent throughout the game made it unlikely that they would have the opportunity to provide a clinical finish at any point in time.
Norway, on the other hand have had a historic qualification from the group stages for the first time in their history, with England as their next opponents. With 7 shots on target, and multiple prolific target men, it is sure that Norway will be a tough opponent for England next week, who finished 2nd in their group, below a high-scoring Italy.
