On Sunday 22nd May Loughborough Students’ Union held their annual community fun day and what a success it was!
This year this free non-profit event raised a whopping £500 for the College Garth Dog Rescue Kennels in Hathern.
Open to both children and adults there was something for everyone. The day included activities such as bouncy castles, donkey rides, balloon modelling and a bungee run! There was also a petting zoo where you were able to cuddle soft bunny rabbits, stroke ducks and hold a tortoise and a snake.
If this wasn’t enough there was also face painting, henna, traditional games and of course food stalls.
The police, fire brigade and military were present providing children with the chance to climb aboard their vehicles and ask as many questions they so wished. We also had the pleasure of being entertained by Punch and Judy, Loughborough Breakdancing Society, Loughborough Stage Society and Loughborough Sing Society.
It was also an honour to see the Mayor Councillor John Capleton and his Mayoress Mrs Meg Jenkinson attend. The beaming sun showed an appearance on this spectacular day allowing everyone to enjoy lots of fun and games in warm weather. Congratulations to the organisers: Anne Cato, Rosie Harvey and all the Action Committee and Volunteers.
Well done to all the societies, staff and external helpers who also made the day such a brilliant success. I can’t wait for the one next year already!
