Calling all musicians in and around Loughborough, a fantastic and free opportunity is being held for you all this coming January!

Loughborough Records is looking for musicians and bands based in Loughborough to come together for a unique recording opportunity as part of the Market Town project.

As part of the project, Loughborough Records Presents Presence will be introducing a pop-up recording studio and asking the town and university’s musicians to come together and create a sound that they feel represents ‘Loughborough’.

In partnership with Radar (the university’s contemporary arts programme) and Loughborough University Arts, the Market Town Corner project will be presenting a unique recording opportunity in Loughborough’s Town Centre. Artists, architects and designers are invited to re-imagine the future of Loughborough with this creative project. This is one of six commissions alongside a programme of talks and workshops, which will be exploring the future of our town centres.

The Loughborough Records project is the vision of architect Can Altay. He will design a unique environment in which the recording studio will be housed and is keen to engender a feeling of civic pride through celebrating the sounds of musicians that live and work in and around the town especially.

The Market Town Project has been supported by Arts Council England, Loughborough University, Charnwood Arts and Charnwood Borough Council and Loughborough Records’ event is open to all musicians, bands and singers both students and the community. Any genre of music is hugely encouraged to get involved, be it dubstep, opera, electronica and choirs! Absolutely anyone can make use of these incredible facilities.

A website and concert dedicated to the sounds and performances of all artists involved is to be organised in the near future.

You can record individually, or as part of a group/band; if this sounds like something for you, email luarts@lboro.ac.uk if you are interested in being a part of this special community recording session. They will then be in touch regarding your studio time and you can get the creative juices flowing and create something incredible! For more information see the Market Town Project.
