Exec Candidate Chris Briggs: All You Need To Know

Name: Chris Briggs

Course: Sports Science and Physics

Hall: Falk-Egg

Running for: Societies Federation President

As a co-founding member of LSU Touch Rugby, which went on to win ‘Best New Society’ at the Societies Awards, Chris Briggs knows the ins and outs of the Societies Federation. Chris ‘The Bandit’ Briggs is looking to improve the interaction of societies whilst also providing a mentoring system for new societies. Chris is clearly experienced in the societies section and has a lot of enthusiasm in order to take his ideas forward. Chris’ nice-guy image is no illusion and he is passionate about his campaign. If you see him around campus, make sure you ask him to show you his dance skills, as he once won a dance competition at a gadget show in Birmingham!

1.       Why are you running for this position?

I’m running for Societies President and the reason why I’m doing this is because I’ve been involved with the societies section for a number of years now and it’s really improved my Loughborough experience. I’m really passionate about the sector and it’s something I enjoy being part of and I want the opportunity to develop and mould it for the future and give others the experience that I’ve had in this section.

2.       What makes you more suited than any other candidate?

I’ve been involved in setting up the societies and I understand how new societies work. I am a chair for a society this year so I understand how societies work behind the scenes. I am also part of the societies committee so I see how they interact and how new opportunities arise from them.

3.       Tell us a bit about your campaign theme

My campaign theme is Chris ‘The Bandit’ Briggs and we’re going to go with a ‘WANTED’ theme alongside the slogan of ‘You’ve got a friend in me’ as I’m someone who can interact and be friendly with people whilst helping them out.

4.       What would you say is the most important aspect of your manifesto?

I would say the most important aspect of my manifesto is increasing the awareness of the section within the University but using other sections, halls and departments.

5.       In one sentence, why should people vote for you?

I’m really passionate about the section and I’ll strive to do whatever needs to be done in order to do what’s best for the section and also to help improve the experience for students at Loughborough University and the local area.
