The women’s 2nd team played their fourth match of the season – and their fourth match away from home – against Nottingham 2nds last Wednesday. Team member Imogen Harry reports on their convincing 2-10 victory.

After last week’s draw against Oxford 1sts it was the girls’ chance to claim back those lost rubbers this Wednesday against Nottingham 2nds.
Laura Feely, Michaela Knespl, Natasha Newton and myself took on the Nottingham girls in our fourth match of the season, already having claimed two wins before the match against Oxford.

As a team we started off strong, dominating all four of our singles matches to win them all in straight sets. All of the girls won very comfortably, but Newton had the best result of the day, securing a 6-0 6-0 whitewash.
Going into the doubles, we had already claimed victory with an 0-8 lead, which led us with high spirits into the final matches. Knepsl and Newton paired together to storm their doubles rubber with a 6-0 6-2 win. It was, however, a different result for Feely and myself as we were beaten rather convincingly with a final score of 6-4 6-1 by a strong pairing from Nottingham.

Overall, it was a successful day once again for our women’s 2nds and we all went home feeling that we had redeemed ourselves from the previous week.

Next Week the girls are playing away against Sheffield Hallam in their first round of the BUCS Cup.

Good Luck Girls!
