Day one at the Olympic Stadium complete; and what a day.

From the moment the Championship kicked off with Justine Kinney winning the first ever competitive race at the Olympic Stadium in the 400m hurdles, to Craig Murch’s progression in the hammer over four hours later, the Olympic Stadium certainly didn’t disappoint.

As well as Kinney, Izzy Jeffs also wrote her name in the record books earlier today with an amazing throw of 53.93m in the javelin, a new Championship record.

It certainly looks, if Harry AA, Niall Flannery and Meghan Beesley’s performances this evening are anything to go by, that it’ll be a very successful week for Loughborough Students Athletics Club (LSAC).

Away from athletics, is this the furthest away from campus that Label has completed live text updates? And if so, is that Loughborough's third record of the evening?

I must say I’m proud to be a part of a team which I think is completing Label’s first ever live updates and tweets from off campus. It’s certainly another step in the right direction for Label Online, which we must remember is less than two years old. It is a credit to all involved, and the volunteers who have made it to London this weekend.

It was great to be a part of the media scene at a major event like this; from listening to Mark Shardlow giving his reports to BBC local radio stations up and down the country, to helping out national press with Justine Kinney’s degree.

Oh, and did I mention, both Jack and Emma managed to get photos with Loughborough Alumni and LOCOG Chair, Lord Seb Coe as he was passing? Not a bad way to kick off your weekend!

Having said that, clearly Label volunteers Emma Cluley and Jane McGuire have much to learn when it comes to packing for a cold and damp outdoor athletics meet. Both were rather cold come 9pm!

Finally, I’d like to say a quick thank you to LSAC for all their help thus far, in particular allowing me to travel down today on their coach and wish them good luck with the rest of their weekend.
