After missing out on hosting The East Midlands Children In Need last year, Loughborough University were honoured to host it this year in our very own David Wallace Sports Hall. With the action kicking off at 6pm Loughborough was buzzing with locals, students and, of course, Pudsey Bear.

Loughborough University changed the annual RAG Week to fall in line with the BBC Live Broadcast that took place on the November 18. This meant that the week was a very eventful one which was surrounded by fundraising events that were taking place all over the university.

These events included a Bounce-a-thon, a trampolining marathon on Rigg Rutt circle, Groove Train and selling toast in lectures. In total, Loughborough managed to raise a fantastic amount of £5493.77 over just four days.

There were also different events going on throughout the East Midlands all helping to raise as much money as possible, Loughborough Endowed Schools Music School managed to raise £805.17. The Live Broadcast raised around £1.5 million in the East Midlands, with an estimate of £720,000 raised on the actual night of Children In Need.

RAG Chair Sarah Musgrave explained “For BBC East Midlands to hold the annual event here at the University is a fantastic opportunity for the community and University to come together to raise money for such a worthwhile cause!” It was overall a fantastic success with an estimate of 1400 people attending the evening which saw all Union sections come together with the University to host the ‘Pudsey Party.’
