Lorca’s original tale is seen in the depths of rural Spain in the early 1900s. Leonardo and Bride were pulled apart from an intense relationship for reasons unknown. Years later, he is unhappily married and she is engaged to the kind and gentle Bridegroom, whose family have suffered tragedies at the hands of Leonardo’s family. After the wedding, Bride and Leonardo commit the ultimate sin and run away to the woods to be together. With shame falling on both families, there can only be one of two fates in their midst: exile or death.

This revised production by LSU Stage Society sees a modernised twist to the classic love story. Featuring music you will have all heard before, black humour of the self-conscious and a surreal ambiguity of place and time, this show is definitely not one to be missed!

Be transported through this epic legend from the very beginning. You will be welcomed into the theatre by the four ominous security guards, the puppeteers of this tragic tale. You will meet Mother- a woman so fuelled with grief she has been driven mad and into isolation. And finally, be afraid of death, for death is ever present and may enter the stage when you least expect…

The performance dates will be on the 7/8 December at Fearon Hall, Rectory Road. Tickets will be priced at £5 (£4 with NUS card). You can buy tickets from www.lufbra.net/stage or by contacting a member of the committee. Please like the Facebook page which can be found by clicking here!
