Sports Editor, Jasmine Trapnell sat down with some of the Executive Officer candidates to help students get to know them a bit more. Below you can get to know Max Nevri, who is running for President…

Max Nevri (LSU Presidential candidate) describes himself as a passionate, enthusiastic, and excitable individual. Over his time at Loughborough he has been actively involved in many extra-curricular activities: Flix Cinema Film society chair, societies executive committee member, action volunteer, RAG volunteer, and fresher helper for Harry French.

When I asked who it is that inspires him, Nevri responded that it has to be his Dad. He explained his dad moved to the United Kingdom with nothing and has built a life for himself and his family.

Nevri’s manifesto focuses on the ideas on unity, affordability, and accountability – detailing that he feels confident that he can bring Loughborough’s Student Union back to being the best in the UK. Click here to read Nevri’s full manifesto.

“The Union needs to show that students are being listened to”

I then asked Nevri what his favourite memory at Loughborough was, to which he responded that it was just a few weeks ago where he held a version of the Oscars for Flix Society, giving awards to films and other members. He explained that it went so well, despite the fact that it could have gone wrong really easily!

My next question was an important one for all candidates! I asked, if you had to live in halls for one more year, which hall would you choose? Nevri responded if he had no budget, he would choose Elvyn!

The final question I asked, some believe can tell you a lot about a person, others just think it’s a fun ‘get to know you’ question: “if you could be an animal, which one would you be and why?”. Quickly, Nevri responded a chimp! Going on to explain he is easily excitable and has been told he has big ears!
