Local 6 year old girl raises money for the Little Princess Trust
Ever decided that you wanted to do something amazing for charity? Raise loads of money and help people at the same time? Well, Gracie Prosser from just outside Loughborough decided just that, and she is just 6 years old. Already having raised more in her lifetime than most of us have as students, she is doing what most girls would fear doing and having over a foot of her golden locks chopped for charity.
Gracie Prosser, age six, of Barrow-upon-Soar, will be having 14-iches of her hair cut this Saturday in order to donate it to a children’s cancer charity. When Gracie was just four years old, her mother Sam Conway was sadly diagnosed with breast cancer.
Over the next two years, as Sam battled with her Cancer, Gracie was “incredibly brave… understanding and very helpful” whilst watching her mother battle with cancer. Sharing on Gracie’s donation page, Sam wrote how “she and her sister Amalie gave me the strength to fight and showed me every reason to pull through”.
However, despite a bravery and understanding far beyond that usually sought in such a young girl Gracie found watching her mother lose her hair the hardest. So when Gracie started thinking about having her long locks cut, Sam did some research into hair donation, and found the ‘Little Princess Trust’ (the same charity that Jessie J donated her hair to following having it shaved for Comic Relief this year). They donate tailor made wigs to children suffering with hair loss, due to such things as their battle with cancer.
Following the research Gracie, who currently has hair down to her lower back, has decided to have 14inches of her hair cut off in order to donate it to the Little Princess Trust, which is double the minimum required length, alongside that she has raised £527 on her Just Giving page; which is nearly enough for two more wigs.
