Following the earlier success of this year’s collaborations with Versace and Marni, H&M have lined up yet another designer partner, this time in the form of Anna Dello Russo.
Unlike previous collaborations with Karl Lagerfeld and Stella McCartney, Dello Russo’s collection will be purely accessories. Boasting one of the most elusive, eccentric and couture wardrobes in the industry and believing that “fashion [is] her real language”, the Japanese Vogue director-at-large and creative consultant is renowned for her twelve years of groundbreaking work as the Fashion Editor at Vogue Italia.
H&M’s creative advisor, Margareta van den Bosch believes that the collection will be divinely decadent, "Anna has a fantastic eye and a strong taste, apart from being a veritable fashion icon. The collection is a celebration of excess, fantasy and decoration."
The line includes shoes, jewellery, bags, sunglasses and even a trolley suitcase! My guess is that the suitcase will be the biggest success, because it hasn’t been done before in any collaboration or H&M collection.
The fashion director-at-large describes herself as “crazy for fashion” but reveals that “accessories are the focus in my life” in the official press release video, where she also describes her inspiration as coming from her living room furniture and children’s pop-up books as they offer another reality.
Dello Russo proudly states, “I wanted to create precious accessories that are impossible to find. With these pieces everybody can have fun, turning an ordinary day into a fantastic fashion day."
Although no design images have been released at this time, something tells me that this is going to top all other collections and be something truly special. Get saving ladies and put the date in your diary; the collection hits 140 stores worldwide and online on Thursday October 4.
