Loughborough Students RFC sealed promotion to the English National League 1 after a 22-16 victory against Sheffield on Saturday which saw them crowned National League 2N champions.
Courtenay Morrison score in the corner in the first half was Loughborough's only try and gave them 13-10 lead at the interval. The scores were tied at 16 apiece after 70 minutes, but with ten minutes to go Andy Hall's late penalties secured a famous 22-16 victory.
The club have been so close to promotion in the past few seasons, knocked out in the play off finals by Jersey and Rosslyn Parks.
However, after an excellent season, they are now 26 points clear at the top of the National League 2N table with a maximum of 25 points available to chasers Huddersfield.

Promotion means the club is now one of the top 40 in the country.
