Loughborough’s Athletic Union (AU) has announced a new link with Breedon Priory Golf Centre which will result in recreational golf membership being available to Loughborough Students. The link will mean students will pay just £65 (plus £15 for AU membership) for recreational golf membership, approximately £35 cheaper than joining the club directly.
Demand is thought to be high for the recreational golf memberships, which go online at 1pm on Monday 26 September.
Breedon Priory Golf Centre, which is situated between South Derbyshire and North Leicestershire, is approximately 20 minutes away from campus meaning interested students are likely to require a car to play.
Loughborough footballer, Josh Hill played the course earlier in the month and said, “it’s got wide driving areas, forgiving fairways and massive greens which are well looked after – I’ll definitely be joining, it’s the type of course you can improve lots and for that price, it’s an absolute bargain”.
It is believed that this may be the first of many schemes from new AU president Adam Rae as he attempts to make sport available to players of all abilities throughout the university.
