Earlier today Charnwood Police locked down Station Street in the student triangle, with a Police cordon stretching from Lidl to where the road meets Oxford Street.
One eyewitness reported the ongoing erection of a white forensics tent at 10:30 this morning, along with a fire crew and around half a dozen police vans and cars, whilst another saw officers going in and out of a property at around midday.
There has been no official word yet from Charnwood Police as to what has occurred in the heavily student-populated area, but there are unconfirmed reports this evening of it being a significant drug enforcement operation. The cordon has since been lifted.
