Campaigns are well underway; you might have seen them around campus. The voting is almost open, we hope this article will help you improve your knowledge on Peck through his own words. Peck is running for President, a role which requires immense multi-tasking ability as well as communication and leadership. The President leads the executive officers in the great work they do for the Union. Peck studies Computer Science and is in his final year here at Loughborough. Peck has leadership experience through being ViceChair of LSU Media. Peck spent time in secondary education at St Joseph’s Institution in Singapore. We spoke to Peck to gain an understanding of how he aims to be elected President and what he plans to do if elected.

What are your top priorities for your time as President if elected?

Transparency, Accountability, and Engagement

In recent years, the Union has prioritized its commercial interests over the needs of students. I want to change that. Students deserve to know what decisions are being made, why they are being made, and how they impact their university experience. I will ensure that senior leadership is held accountable so that every decision is made in the best interest of students—not just the Union’s bottom line.

Decisions that disregard students have transformed the Union from a student-led organization into what some now describe as an “irrelevant charity that runs a nightclub.” I’ve spoken with student community leaders who feel abandoned and unsupported.

They’ve told me that top-level decisions have negatively impacted on their experience. Alumni recall a time when the Union truly felt like a ‘Students’ Union’—a place that championed student voices and enriched campus life. A place truly ran by students, for students.

I want to bring us back to those days.

What good work would you look to carry on from this year?

This year’s Executive Officer team has done an outstanding job of engaging with student communities. As Vice-Chair of LSU Media, I’ve personally felt heard—our concerns have been acknowledged, and the support we’ve received is stronger than ever. In my three years with LSU Media, I’ve never seen this level of engagement and backing for our student community.

I want to build on this momentum and take student engagement even further.

What experience have you encountered which you believe improved your ability in the role?

I bring something unique to this role—experience both as a volunteer within student communities and working under the Union’s commercial arm, Social Enterprise. I currently volunteer with LSU Media as its Vice Chair while also working with the Union’s Tech Crew, where I set up and operate lighting and PA systems for entertainment events. This gives me a well-rounded understanding of both sides. I understand the real needs of the commercial arm and can pinpoint and eliminate unnecessary spending and resource waste. By doing so, I can redirect funding to better support student communities.

Where does your personal drive to become LSU President come from?

The passion of student communities—whether in societies, Action, RAG, or halls—is what drives me. Their dedication to creating unique, university-exclusive opportunities is truly inspiring. I want to ensure these communities have a strong voice in the Union’s high-level decision-making, so their contributions are recognised and their needs are prioritized.

If voters would like to get in touch with further questions, are you open to this and how would they go about contacting you?
