THE Cope auditorium was bombarded with talent on February 9th 10th and 11th, as LSDC presented their annual dance show: Route 66. Over 140 dancers took to the stage to showcase an array of dancing talents, from Hip-hop and tap to Latin and Ballet. With the Saturday night tickets selling out almost immediately, it came as no surprise to learn that the auditorium was jam-packed full of truly inspired family, friends and students.

Every year, LSDC works incredibly hard in order to deliver a professional show that is based on a unique and original theme. 2017’s theme brought all things American to front (with exception to the unfortunate appointment of Trump, of course), using Superheroes, the Rockettes and of course Queen B herself to highlight some of Loughborough’s best talent. From sassy soloists to dynamic duets, LSDC ensured that all of their hard work this academic year was crammed into 3 nights of popping, locking and stretching! Charlotte Wilson, this years show co-ordinator, did an amazing job of incorporating the US theme across 30 dances. She said “Coordinating the show this year has been such a fantastic opportunity for myself, although its been much hard work it has been amazing and I am so unbelievably proud of every single club member. Everyone has worked so hard and has put in endless amounts of effort to ensure that the show this year was the best it could be. It will certainly be a show to remember and a wonderful memory”.

If you came to watch the show and would be interesting in joining dance, LSDC are holding a contemporary workshop on Saturday 4th March from 2-4pm in the EHB studio. Entry is only £2 and all funds raised will be going to charity – everyone is welcome!

]If you are one of the unfortunate individuals who missed out on Route 66, then ensure you are one of the first to buy tickets for the largest inter-university dance competition, held in Loughborough on 11th and 12th March. Tickets are available to students for just £4 for one day, or £6 for the whole weekend. Show some Luff spirit and support our amazing dancers!
